Eagles Fall to Webber in AAC Tournament
Kingsport, Tn. - In a high-stakes AAC semi-final showdown, the Reinhardt University men's volleyball team, known as the Eagles, faced a tough match against the Webber International Warriors on April 18, 2025, in Kingsport, TN. Despite a spirited effort, the Eagles fell to the Warriors with a final score of 3-1.
The match kicked off with Webber International setting a strong pace, taking the first two sets each with a score of 25-21. The Eagles rallied back in the third set, overcoming the Warriors 25-21, but ultimately, Webber International clinched the victory with a 25-17 win in the fourth set. The defeat marks an end to Reinhardt's impressive season record of 22 wins and 6 losses, including a conference record of 12-1.
Key players for Reinhardt put up remarkable performances. Jakub Aniolczyk led the team with 16 kills, followed by Gabriel Gutierrez with 14 kills and 10 digs, showcasing his all-rounded abilities. The defensive efforts were bolstered by Andrea Forcina, Jakub Aniolczyk, and Christian De Leon, each contributing significantly with 1.0 blocks. Notably, Gutierrez also delivered crucial serves, securing 2 aces for the team.
Bruno Dewes orchestrated the plays with a high of 29 assists, positioning him as a central figure in the team's offensive strategies. Despite the loss, the Eagles conclude the season with a positive outlook, highlighted by having 9 total AAC player of the week recognitions and 8 players on the AAC all-academic team. The Eagles will now wait & see if they receive an at-large big for the NAIA Tournament.
