Marietta, GA - In a compelling start to the season, the Reinhardt University Eagles women's soccer team faced off against the Life Running Eagles in Marietta, Ga, on Saturday night. Despite a strong first-half performance, the Eagles were unable to maintain their lead, ultimately falling 3-1 to the Running Eagles.
The match began on a positive note for Reinhardt, with Belle Seward securing the first goal at 37:30, assisted by Brooke Fairchild. This lead held strong into the halftime, with the Eagles leading 1-0. However, the second half saw a dramatic turn as Life's Helen Gutierrez scored two consecutive goals at 48:00 and 55:18, both assisted by Sara Diaz, shifting the momentum significantly. The Life Running Eagles solidified their victory with a third goal by Sacha Millward at 62:08, again involving Diaz and Gutierrez in the setup.
The final score of 3-1 was secured despite efforts from Reinhardt's goalie, Reagan Horton, who made 5 saves.
