Golf Trio Make Their Mark at The SCAD Cup
Locust Grove, GA - Reinhardt Women's Golf turned in a solid set of individual performances at The SCAD Cup, held March 16-17 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Locust Grove, Georgia, with sophomore Samantha Roper pacing the Eagles' trio in the 36-hole event.
Competing without the minimum five golfers required to post a team score, Reinhardt entered three individuals in the tournament on the 5,687-yard, par-72 layout. Roper led the way with a tie for 17th place at 24-over par, while freshmen Isabella Mobley and Addy Anderson gained valuable tournament experience in their spring slate.
Roper delivered consistent rounds across both days, carding 12-over-par scores in each round to finish at 24-over for the tournament. Her matching rounds kept her inside the top 20 of the individual leaderboard and provided a steady presence for the Eagles in a field that included full squads and more experienced lineups.
Mobley closed in 21st place at 30-over par, improving on her opening 16-over round with a 14-over card in Round 2. The freshman's lower second-round total reflected adjustments to the course and conditions at Heron Bay and helped her climb the board on the final day. Anderson finished 23rd at 40-over par, following a 21-over opening round with a 19-over second round as she completed the two-day event.
Although the Eagles were unable to register a team score, the individual showings at SCAD's home event added competitive reps and provided a benchmark for the program's younger players. All three Reinhardt golfers posted slightly better scores in Round 2 than in Round 1, signaling incremental gains as they move deeper into the spring schedule.
Reinhardt now turns its attention to postseason play. The Eagles are scheduled to return to action April 27-29 at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship, which will be contested at Governor's Country Club in Acworth, Georgia.
