January 18, 2026
WALESKA, Ga. — Emariah Grant scored 23 points and sparked a dominant fourth-quarter surge as Reinhardt University rolled past Montreat College 79-46 on Saturday afternoon. Reinhardt outscored the Cavaliers 30-16 in the fourth quarter, turning a 15-point advantage after three quarters into a 33-point victory. The Eagles' largest lead reached 34 with two minutes remaining.
Montreat grabbed its biggest edge at 9-6 midway through the first quarter when Sarah Williams converted two free throws with 5:55 left in the period. From there, Reinhardt clamped defensively and closed the quarter on a 14-0 run to take a 20-9 lead. The Eagles continued to build that margin behind efficient perimeter shooting, including a second-quarter 3-pointer by Taylor Collins that pushed the advantage to 24-9 with 8:40 to play in the half. Reinhardt led 37-25 at the break.
Grant provided the offensive spark throughout, finishing 8-for-14 from the field and 5-for-8 from 3-point range while adding two assists and four steals. She drilled a 3-pointer with 4:58 left in the third quarter to extend the Eagles' cushion to 44-27, helping Reinhardt take a 49-30 lead into the fourth. Londaisha Smith added 12 points on 6-for-11 shooting and grabbed six rebounds, giving Reinhardt a strong inside complement to its outside attack.
Reinhardt's defense and work on the glass controlled the game. The Eagles forced 20 turnovers while committing only seven, converting those miscues into 26 points. They also held a slight 40-37 rebounding edge but turned that into a decisive 24-5 advantage in second-chance points. Overall, Reinhardt shot 42.2 percent (27-for-64) from the floor and matched Montreat with eight 3-pointers, while getting to the free-throw line 26 times and making 17.
Reinhardt's depth and pressure showed late, as the Eagles continued to push the pace even with the outcome largely decided. A 3-pointer from Alexus Wilson with just minutes remaining stretched the lead to 77-43 and capped another extended run in the closing minutes. Behind Grant's hot shooting, Smith's interior presence and a defense that turned turnovers into points, the Eagles delivered a comprehensive performance to close out the nonconference matchup.
This win helped move the Eagles to an overall 13-5 record and 10-1 conference record. The Eagles are on the road, on Wednesday, January 21st to face Truett McConnell at 5:30pm.
