Waleska, GA. - Reinhardt completed a doubleheader sweep of Milligan on Wednesday in Waleska, taking Game 1, 5-0, before closing the day with a 3-0 win in Game 2 behind another dominant outing in the circle. The decisive stretch of the afternoon came in the opener's sixth inning, when the Eagles turned a tight one-run game into a comfortable lead, then followed that with steady run production and another shutout in the nightcap.
In Game 1, Reinhardt struck first in the first inning when Emily Pettit singled to left to bring home Taylor Wade for a 1-0 lead. That margin held for much of the game as Anslie Pettit controlled Milligan's lineup from the circle. The Eagles broke it open in the sixth. Ansley Hight doubled to right-center to score Hallee Shirley, Emily Pettit added another RBI single, and Kylie Freije delivered the biggest swing of the game with a three-run home run that pushed the lead to 5-0.
Anslie Pettit finished the opener with a complete-game shutout, allowing two hits over seven innings while striking out five. Reinhardt backed that effort with clean defense and seven hits. Emily Pettit had two hits and an RBI, Hight doubled and drove in a run, and Freije's homer accounted for three RBIs. Milligan managed only two hits, did not draw a walk and left two runners on base.
The Eagles carried that formula into Game 2. After two scoreless innings, Reinhardt moved ahead in the third when Ansley Hight doubled to left-center for the game's first run. Molly Stevens extended the advantage with a solo home run in the fourth, and Hight added more separation in the fifth with a solo shot to make it 3-0. Reinhardt finished with eight hits and three walks in the second game, consistently putting pressure on Milligan even when innings did not turn into big rallies.
Macy Langley matched the opener's pitching standard with a complete-game shutout of her own. Langley allowed two hits, walked one and struck out five over seven innings. Hight led the Game 2 offense with two hits, including a double and a home run, while driving in two runs. Stevens also collected two hits and an RBI on her fourth-inning homer. Milligan again was limited to two hits and was shut out for the second time in the doubleheader.
Across both games, Reinhardt outscored Milligan 8-0 and got complete-game shutouts from Anslie Pettit and Langley, with each pitcher allowing just two hits and recording five strikeouts. The Eagles also got timely power, first from Freije's three-run homer in the sixth inning of Game 1, then from Hight and Stevens in Game 2, to finish off a polished home sweep at Ken White Softball Field in clear 84-degree conditions.
