Coach Jordan Turner Exemplifies Service, Character, and Commitment to Reinhardt University
Waleska, GA - With around 18 years as a student-athlete, staff member, and coach at Reinhardt University, Coach Jordan Turner will be taking a new path as he leaves Reinhardt for a new role as Associate Director of Graduate Admissions at the University of North Georgia.
Coach Turner's journey at Reinhardt began before his duties as a staff member and coach for the University. He was a standout runner for the cross country team at Reinhardt from 2003-2006. Over his career at Reinhardt, he had many accomplishments. He was the 2006-2007 recipient of Reinhardt's Golden Eagle Award, which is presented annually to the University's top student-athlete. He was a four-time member of the All-Southern States Athletic Conference Team and qualified for the NAIA national meet all four seasons from 2003-06. As a senior, he earned First Team All-Region XIII accolades and finished third at the SSAC Championship. In addition to these awards, Coach Turner was inducted into the Reinhardt Athletics Hall of Fame for his time with the Eagles.
After graduating from Reinhardt in 2007, Coach Turner spent some time in the Admissions Department for Reinhardt before being asked to head up the men's and women's cross country teams. Later on, he was asked to start the indoor and outdoor track programs at Reinhardt which he has been coaching for the past several years. He has had just as much success as a coach as he did as a runner for the Eagles and one of the best came this past outdoor track season when sophomore, David Friedberg, won the NAIA National Championship in the Javelin Throw. As you can see from the below coaching highlight list, Coach Turner has had a successful career at the helm of the Eagles Cross Country and Track Programs. You would not know how successful he has been from his modest demeanor, but he truly has accomplished many great things for Reinhardt both as an athlete and as a leader of student-athletes.
Coach Turner had this to say about his time at Reinhardt, "I have been blessed beyond measure to have spent a total of 14 years at Reinhardt as both a student and coach. I owe everything I have in my life to the experiences and relationships I've made while learning, serving, and leading while I was at Reinhardt. I'm thankful to Dr. Isherwood (former President) and Bill Popp for trusting someone with zero experience to come in a blaze my own path for what a successful XC/T&F program looked like. More than anything, I want to thank the tremendous student-athletes that I had the pleasure of working with for allowing me the privilege to help support them in their educational and athletic journeys at Reinhardt. We had our obstacles, but it's my hope they learned as much from me as I did from them along the way. My greatest memory will not be the championships, records, or races but rather the medical professionals, educators, lawyers, successful business leaders, et al that our program was able to produce. I'll forever be a Reinhardt Eagle and I'm excited to see the continued growth of Reinhardt Cross Country and Track & Field under the leadership of Coach Austin Brennan"
