Eagles Bring Back Adam Reakes to Lead Men's Soccer
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt University Athletics has selected former Eagle standout, Adam Reakes, to lead their Men's Soccer program. Reakes returns to Waleska after an extensive career as both a player and a coach, where he honed his skills to be a collegiate head coach. He is a 2015 graduate of Reinhardt University, where he flourished under legendary Eagles Head Coach Joey Johnson.
Executive Director Jonathan Burton and a search committee hired Reakes in an extensive search. " I am thrilled to announce the hiring of Adam Reakes into our Reinhardt family", added Burton. "We are excited to see him take the reins of a program that he helped both as a player and an assistant coach. His vision of where he wants this program to go is one that I fully support. Adam has a passion for coaching, but most importantly, a passion for Reinhardt. I can't wait to see his teams compete at a level where we can compete for championships year in and year out."
Reakes' most recent job was as an assistant for the NCAA Division One University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers, where he served the men's soccer program since February 2024. Reakes helped improve the Blazers' overall record to 6-7-2, which was a two-win improvement from the 2024 season.
Before coaching the Blazers, He was an assistant with Wofford University in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While there, he helped the Terriers improve to a respectable 7-4-6 in 2023. Wofford had an unbeaten record in conference play and finished second in the SoCon regular season. The Terriers, under Reakes, also posted the program's second-fewest losses in program history, second-most shutouts in program history, second-fewest goals allowed in program history, and second-best goals against average.
He also had stints collegiately with NCAA Division II Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was an assistant during the 2022 season, and then several seasons with Reinhardt as a graduate assistant and volunteer coach.
Reakes is a native of Colchester, England, where he has over ten years of experience at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels, most recently serving as the head coach of Apotheos FC of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). He served as Director of Coaching for Academy Juniors of Inter Atlanta FC while also assisting with the Georgia Revolution of the NPSL and Atlanta United.
His professional playing career includes time both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. He had a stretch in the NPSL in Tennessee as a member of both the Knoxville Force and Chattanooga FC. He then moved to the USL League Two, where he played for Peachtree City MOBA in Georgia.
In England, Reakes had time with Chelmsford City, Brightlingsea Regent, Stanway Rovers, Brantham Athletic, and Colchester United.
He holds a degree in sports studies with a minor in business management from Reinhardt University (2015). Some of his awards and recognitions while playing for the Eagles include honorable mention NAIA All-America in 2014, along with NSCAA All-Region honors. Under Johnson, he helped lead the Eagles to their first-ever Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Regular Season Title in program history.
He is married to his wife, Ansley, and they have one daughter, Arlowe Emersyn.
