#2 Men's Golf Take Second at Blue Mountain Classic
West Point, MS - Reinhardt University's Men's Golf team finished second in the 16-team Blue Mountain Spring Classic on March 23-24 at Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, posting a three-round team score of 40-over par. Trey Schmidt led the Eagles with a tie for fifth at 7-over, and all five Reinhardt golfers finished inside the top 20.
Dalton State won the team title, while Reinhardt closed the tournament with round totals of 18-over in the first round, 10-over in the second, and 12-over in the third on the par-72, 7,144-yard course. The event featured 88 golfers, and the Eagles stayed near the top of the standings throughout the three-round tournament.
Schmidt delivered Reinhardt's lowest round of the event with a 3-under second round, a score that pushed him into contention after he opened at 4-over. He finished the tournament at 7-over after a 6-over final round. MJ Hodge followed with a tie for 11th at 12-over, rebounding from an opening 8-over round with an even-par second round before carding 4-over in the final round.
Reinhardt also got steady production from Griffin Latimer, Zane May, and Pride Dyer. Latimer tied for 16th at 14-over with rounds of 7-over, 7-over, and even par. May also tied for 16th at 14-over after rounds of 2-over, 8-over, and 4-over. Dyer finished tied for 19th at 15-over, shooting 5-over, 6-over, and 4-over across the three rounds.
The Eagles' strongest team round came in the second round at 10-over, anchored by Schmidt's 3-under performance and Hodge's even-par card. Reinhardt then wrapped up the tournament with a 12-over final round, with Latimer closing at even par and Hodge, May, and Dyer each posting 4-over scores to help secure the runner-up finish.
Reinhardt's next event is the Roadrunner Classic at The Farm Golf Club in Dalton, Georgia, scheduled for March 30-31. Following the Dalton State Tournament, the Eagles will have the AAC Championship at Barnsley Gardens Resort on April 20-21 in Adairsville, Georgia, before the NAIA National Tournament coming up in May.
