Lewiston, Id. - Reinhardt Baseball is venturing into new territory by winning their first-ever NAIA World Series game. Timely hitting in the late innings and Brett Allen shutting down the Royals of Hope International allowed the Eagles to come away with a 7-5 first-round win. The win advances them in the bracket to Monday with a matchup with the winner of #1 Southeastern vs #9 Arizona Christian, which takes place on Saturday. No games are scheduled for Sunday at the World Series, and play will start on Monday morning. Reinhardt's game will begin around 6:05 pm EST (remember that games are often delayed in tournament situations).
Tucker Zdunich and Dylan Lewis each homered to help the Eagles keep pace with the Royals. Zdunich was 1 for 5, 3 RBIs, one HR. Lewis was 2 for 5 with an RBI, a double, and a home run!
Jarrett Burney had a big game going 2-4 and recording an RBI.
Andrew Herbert got the start for the Eagles going 7 innings - striking out 4 batters to pick up the win. Lance Dockery and Matty Maurer were both 2 for 4 in the game as well.
" Mr. Dependable" Brett Allen came in to pitch the final two innings and he repeated what he has done all season for the Eagles. Allen did not give up a hit or a run while recording two strikeouts and picking up his sixth save of the season.

Reinhardt had to come from behind twice to get the win. Dylan Lewis' solo home run in the fifth inning tied the game at 2-2. The Eagles lost the lead again in the sixth, but Zdunich's three homer (scoring Jacob Profit and Jarrett Burney) tied the game again in the seventh at 5 all. Burney's single in the eighth inning scored Jamel Rookard to take the lead for the first time in the game, 6-5, and a wild pitch scored Lance Dockery that gave the Eagles the insurance run, 7-5. It was a big win for Reinhardt Baseball and should be a huge boost of confidence going into next tournament games.
The Eagles will play again on Monday around 6 pm EST between the winner of the Southeastern (#1) and Arizona Christian (#9) - which is being played on Saturday. Earlier in the season, the Eagles swept the Fire of Southeastern at Ken White Field back in Waleska so Monday could be a very entertaining game.
