Prior to his time with the Eagles, Turner worked at Georgia Highlands College (Cartersville and Rome, Ga.) as both an admissions recruiter and an enrollment management specialist.

His representation at the Championship meet marked the first time in school history a Reinhardt student-athlete had advanced to an NAIA national championship four-straight years.

As a student at Reinhardt, Turner was also involved in the Student Government Association (SGA) and held leadership positions including SGA President (2012-13) and Chief of Staff (2011-12).
Coach Turner has continued to pursue his passion for endurance running as an active member of the Atlanta Track Club (ATC) and USA Track & Field (USATF). He also has competed in events ranging from the marathon to one-mile distance all over the country, including running the Boston Marathon (2012 and 2014), Chicago Marathon (2017) and the New York City Marathon (2010).
Turner holds a USATF Level 1 certification.
