Kingsport, TN. - The Reinhardt University Women's Volleyball team secured a solid victory in the AAC Tournament Quarter-Finals against the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs on Friday night at the MeadowView Marriott in Kingsport, Tenn. The Eagles won in straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-14 to progress in the tournament.
The match showcased strong performances from several Eagles' players. Juliette Baffico led the team with 11 kills, followed by Jenna Smith with 8 and Emma Ponkova with 7. Ponkova also played a crucial role at the net, along with Breah Watson, both registering 5 blocks each to stifle the Bulldogs' offense. Jenna Smith contributed an additional 3 blocks.
Defensively, Silvia Aguado led with 9 digs, and Ashlynn Barnes wasn't far behind with 8 digs. In terms of service aces, Barnes, Baffico, and Faith Breitbarth each recorded 3 aces, contributing to the team's dominance. Ashlynn Barnes additionally excelled in setting up plays, providing 16 assists, while Halle Janik and Silvia Aguado added 12 and 8 assists respectively.
With this victory, the Eagles' season record stands impressively at 28 wins and only 6 losses, with a conference record of 17-2. They are set to face the Johnson Royals in the semi-finals on Saturday, November 15th, at 12:30pm. A win in the semi-finals will secure them a place in the championship game the same day at 4:30pm, potentially advancing them to the NAIA National Tournament.
