Kailey Crawford Finishes 3rd Overall at Music City Invitational
Nashville, TN - On Monday and Tuesday of this week, it was the Eagles Women's Golf Team's time to shine. The Men's Team is off until this Saturday and Sunday when they will be in Tennessee as well competing at the Tennessee Wesleyan Bojangles Invitational in Athens, TN.
The Women's Team was competing in the Music City Invitation which was held at Twelve Stones Golf Club in Goodlettsville, TN near Nashville. There were sixty golfers competing in the 54-hole event with some of the best teams in the NAIA attending.
Kailey Crawford was the top finisher for the Eagles with an outstanding finish at 3rd place overall. Crawford is a newcomer to the Eagles program but has already shown that she will be one of the main golfers that Coach Nichols calls upon to get the job done. Crawford ended up shooting 76, 72, and 82 for a grand total of 231. This put her 15 over par for the three rounds and just one shot out of 2nd place and only four shots back of being the top golfer in the tournament. Eagle Nation can expect big things to come from Kailey Crawford as the season goes on and we move into the spring golf season. The AAC has some of the best golfers in the NAIA and Kailey should help the team be very competitive.
The team finished in 7th place overall out of eleven total teams. Brooke Newsome had another impressive finish coming in 17th position (2nd top golfer for the Eagles) and had scores of 87, 80, and 76 for a total of 243. Caroline Goddard finished in the 25th position, Lauren Welte was tied in the 36th spot, and Debbie Blount was solid sitting in the 49th spot.
Look for this team to keep improving and each player pushing one another to keep moving up the rankings. By the time the spring season comes around, this team could make some noise in the AAC season and have the potential to qualify for NAIA Nationals. Way to go Eagles Women's Golf!
