Coach Chance Cain is a lifelong resident of Cherokee County, where he is a retired teacher/coach of 30 years with Cherokee County Schools. Coach Cain has coached softball for over 25 years at the rec, travel, high school, and collegiate levels. This upcoming season will be Coach Cain’s third season as a coach here at Reinhardt. He appreciates Head Coach Tanner Griffith and Athletic Director Jonathan Burton for hiring him for the 2026-27 season.

“I appreciate Coach Griffith and Coach Burton for giving me the opportunity to serve these talented student-athletes here at Reinhardt for the 2027 season. The softball program here at Reinhardt has always been championship-caliber. We made history in 2025 by becoming the first fifth seed to win at opening national rounds and came up a game short this past season in earning a return trip to the national tournament. I welcome the challenge to build upon the program’s past success as we strive to bring home the program’s first Red Banner to Waleska.”

In his first season at Reinhardt, he was tabbed as the program’s volunteer hitting coach. Coach Cain helped coach the Eagles’ offense to several hitting category recognitions. The Eagles were tops in AAC play in categories of:  Slu.% (.572), HR (19), Runs Scored (212), Triples (16), RBI’s (190), XBH (92), TB (428), and placed  2nd in AAC play in BAvg (.377), OBP (.429), and Doubles (57).

Eagles sophomore standout Ansley Hight was crowned 2025 AAC Player of the Year. Her stat line for the 2025 season was: - BAvg. .438, .472 OBP, .898 Slu. %, 62 RBI, 10 BB, 14 Doubles, 3 Triples, and 13 HR. Ansley, along with four other teammates were selected to the 2025 AAC 1st team or 2nd team. Molly Stevens (Jr.), Taylor Wade (Jr.), Anslie Pettit (So.), and Kyra Lightner (Sr.).

This past season, he was hired as a part-time assistant and was part of a staff that coached the Eagles to a 2nd place finish in AAC play. Even though the team did not achieve its goal of winning the conference and/or earning a spot in the national tournament, the team had some standout student-athletes who had remarkable seasons on the field. Juniors - Ansley Hight and Anslie Pettit both earned 1st team all-conference. Hight batted a team high BAvg. of .397, 34 RBI’s, 10 HR, and an OPS of 1.221. Pettit led in the circle with 16 Wins with a 1.76 ERA, where she struck out 163 batters, walked only 19, as she pitched a total of 158.2 innings. Anslie was also named the 2026 AAC Pitcher of the Year. Senior Taylor Wade and Freshman Emily Pettit were also selected to the all-conference team, where they both played outfield and both were an integral part of the majority of the Eagles’ offensive production this season. Wade (1st team selection) had a career high BAvg. ,417 while finishing her 4-year career at Reinhardt with a career BAvg. of .388, OPS of .950, 70 RBI’s, and 65 stolen bases. E.
