Coach Bedard Inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Wrestling Head Coach, Jeffrey Bedard was recently inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame (NWHOF), Georgia Chapter, for his years of excellence and devotion to the sport of wrestling.
Coach Bedard's history in the sport goes back decades as a youth wrestler all the way through collegiate wrestling and then as a coach. Bedard has had success at all levels including an All-American National Champion in college where he attended Carson Newman University in Tennessee and as a coach where he has had numerous All-Americans and National Champions.
He spent time in the military where he was able to continue wrestling and gained more achievements as a Freestyle World Military Champion and three-time U.S. Armed Forces Champion.
His coaching background includes coaching on the club level, high school level, and on the collegiate level. The common theme between them all is that he always produces great wrestlers that compete and win titles. Some of his accomplishments as a coach have been coaching 23 All-American Athletes, 34 Academic All-Americans, named Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times, and he has been NAIA National Coach of the Year twice. He started the program at Reinhardt University and turned it into a powerhouse that finishes in the Top 10 every year with the highest finish being ranked #3 in the nation.
As a high school coach at Wesleyan High School, Bedard coached them to a Top 12 ranking in the nation, which is a first for a Georgia high school While at Wesleyan, his teams won the 2008 & 2009 State Title in both Duals and Traditional style wrestling.
Coach Bedard was one of seven people inducted into the NWCA. Congratulations to Coach Jeffrey Bedard for his lifetime of service to the sport of wrestling and his dedication to all the student-athletes he has guided over the years.
