NAIA National Champion David Friedberg Set to Compete at World University Games in Germany
Bochum, Germany - Reinhardt University and NAIA Track & Field National Champion David Friedberg has been selected to represent the United States in the Men's Javelin throw at this summer's World University Games in Germany (July 21-27). The World University Games is an international multi-sport event organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). In order to be eligible, an athlete must be between the ages of 18 and 25 and be enrolled in classes toward a degree. Friedberg, who graduated with his Bachelor's Degree last spring, is currently completing his MBA at Reinhardt. After completing a stellar collegiate career, which included 4 AAC conference championships, 3 NAIA national championships, the NAIA National Record of 76.08m, and a 7th place finish at the 2024 USATF Olympic Trials, this will be his first opportunity to represent Reinhardt University, the NAIA and the United States on the international level. This is a great opportunity for Friedberg to catch the eye of sponsors as he begins his career as a professional javelin thrower and continues working towards the ultimate goal of competing in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Joining Friedberg will be Coach Josh White, who will serve as the throws coach for Team USA. White is currently in his 4th season as the throws coach here at Reinhardt, the first of which was as a graduate assistant while earning his Masters in Sports Administration and Leadership in 2022. Across 4 seasons, his throwers have broken 37 school records. In addition to Friedberg's 3 NAIA National Championships, Coach White's throwers have won 7 AAC titles and brought a total of 17 AAC medals back home to Waleska and had 8 NAIA national qualifiers. In 2023, Coach White was voted the NAIA South Region Mens Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA.
