Reinhardt Golf Finishes the Season with Much Success and Optimism for What’s to Come
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt University's Men's and Women's Golf Teams finished another successful school year, highlighted by several tournament wins and outstanding individual performances. The men's team spent the fall and spring seasons collecting national attention with a #2 NAIA ranking, while the women added two new talented freshmen to go along with an established sophomore leader.
The men's team was led by juniors Pride Dyer, Zane May, MJ Hodge, and returning 2025 AAC Freshman of the Year, sophomore Trey Schmidt. They added freshman phenom Griffin Latimer from Creekview High School, which just bolstered the team's capabilities. The pieces fell together quickly, and the team moved from being ranked just inside the NAIA Top 25 all the way to a #2 ranking by the end of the 2025 fall golf season.
In the spring, the team kept its #2 ranking for most of the season, and never fell out of the top 5 teams. The team totaled four tournament titles, three second-place finishes, and one third-place finish during the 2025-26 golf season. They won the Eagles Open, which they hosted, to start the fall season and then made marks nationally by winning the Coastal Georgia Invitational before finishing the fall with the AAC Fall Preview title.
The spring season was highlighted by another AAC Championship title for both the regular season and the 2026 AAC Tournament. This was the second year in a row to achieve both titles.
Individually, Head Coach Evans Nichols was named AAC Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. He was joined by Dyer, who was named AAC Golfer of the Year, and Latimer, who was awarded AAC Freshman of the Year. Dyer, Latimer, and May were named to the AAC 1st Team All-Conference team, and MJ Hodge was named as 2nd Team All-AAC.
The AAC Title qualified the men's team for the NAIA National Tournament, which was held at Silvis, Illinois, at TPC Deere Run. The team made the first round cut, which allowed them to continue competing on the final two days of the four-day tournament. The Eagles finished 13th overall in the final tournament standings. Three team members were named as NAIA All-Americans following the National Tournament. Schmidt was named to the NAIA 2nd Team All-American, while Zane May and Latimer were named as 3rd Team All-Americans.
The women's team had its own successes over the 2025-26 school year despite having to compete with only three golfers most of the way. Samanthan Roper was the returning veteran after having a successful freshman season with the Eagles. Freshmen Isabella Mobley and Addy Anderson joined Roper to create a talented base to build upon for the upcoming seasons.
Although they did not have a tournament win during the season, they were able to have a few individual top ten finishes along the way. Mobley finished in 7th place in her second tournament as a collegiate golfer at the Tennessee Wesleyan Fall Invitational. She also was able to place in 10th place at the Brenau Golden Tiger Collegiate Tournament in the fall. In the spring, Mobley was joined by Roper with a top ten finish at the Point University Skyhawk Spring Collegiate Tournament. Roper finished 5th while Mobley was just behind her in 8th place.
This trio for women's gold endured some tough obstacles during the year, but they pushed through with flying colors and gave a glimpse of what is to come for Reinhardt Women's Golf as the team adds in new freshmen. The new additions will allow the team to compete on a level playing field and give a chance for the Eagles to get into some title runs at the upcoming tournaments.
Both programs are in great shape and should keep pushing the boundaries for golf at the conference and national levels. Stay tuned as the teams get ready for the upcoming fall semester season beginning in August, 2026!
