Eagles Punch Their Ticket to the NAIA Nationals: Schmidt & Nichols AAC Tops
Adairsville, GA - Head Coach Evans Nichols and the Reinhardt Golf program cleaned up at the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship on Monday and Tuesday this week. The Eagles have automatically qualified for the NAIA Nationals by winning the 2025 AAC Championship. The team of Trey Schmidt, Pride Dyer, Zane May, MJ Hodge, Eli Howren, Tyler Frazee, and Robbie Macmillan outscored the second-place team, CIU Rams, by 5 strokes and the third-place team, Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs, by 8 strokes to take the title.
Along with the AAC Tournament title, the Eagles also won the AAC Regular Season title, which is a combined total from both the fall and spring golf seasons.
Coach Nichols was named the AAC Coach of the Year for the team's consistent success for the 2024-25 school year. Freshman phenom Trey Schmidt was named AAC Freshman of the Year. Despite being a freshman, Schmidt often led the Eagles at their tournaments this year, establishing himself as a future leader of this program. Schmidt and Zane May were named as AAC All-Conference Golfers. Schmidt was 1st Team All-Conference, and May was 2nd Team All-Conference!

• Reinhardt Men's Golf - 1st Place Overall with a three-round total of +36 over par. First Round: +19, Second Round +8, Third Round +9
• Trey Schmidt - 4th Place overall with a three-round total of +7 over par. Three round scores: 75,76, 72. His final shot was about a 30-yard putt on the 18th hole that he sank to keep the Eagles on top!
• Pride Dyer - 7th Place overall with a three-round total of +11 over par. Three round scores: 76, 76,75.
• Zane May - 7th Place overall with a three-round total of +11 over par. Three round scores: 81,71,75. May's second round score of. 71 was the team's low for the tournament!
• MJ Hodge - 11th place overall with a three-round total of +13 over par. Three round scores: 78,73,78.
• Eli Howren - 23rd place overall with a three-round total of +16 over par. Three round scores: 78,79,75.
• Tyler Frazee and Robbie Macmillan were listed as alternates for the AAC Tournament team.
The Eagles will now focus on the 73rd ANNUAL NAIA MEN'S GOLF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, which takes place May 20-23, 2025, at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, IL. More information on the national tournament to come. The link to the NAIA Golf site is listed below.
