Eagles Win the Spring Skyhawk Invitational
Newnan, GA - Reinhardt Men's Golf competed at the Spring Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Point University. The tournament was on Monday and Tuesday this week and it was a 54-hole event where the Eagles came away with a great victory placing 1st Overall!
The Eagles had an overall team success with six of the seven golfers finishing in 21st place or above. Chanc Willis was the top golfer finishing in sixth position with a total score of 222, which is just six over par. He shot one under par in the first round (71) and hit par in the second round (72).
Willis was closely followed by Kevin Verrill and Jack Haller who both tied for 12th position and just three shots back from Willis. Verrill was one under par in his final third round and both golfers ended up with a score of 225.
Hunter Clay could not be any closer finishing just one stroke back of Verrill and Haller with a score of 226. Brooks Gineris and Dalton Henson finished in 19th and 21st place respectively with scores of 230 and 231. Dylan Long was not too far behind Gineris and Henson with a total score of 246.
Having all these team members at the top of the standings gave the Eagles the overall team victory over several talented golf teams. The team total for the tournament was 890 and that was six strokes better than the second-place finisher - Truett McConnell. The University of South Carolina-Beaufort finished in third place.
The Eagles will be at the William Carey Invitational on March 13th & 14th next week in Hattiesburg, MS where they hope to keep building on their success this season.
