Eagles Finish Fourth in Dalton State Invitational
David Finney
Valdosta, GA - Eagles Men's and Women's Golf Teams competed at the Dalton State Invitational to start their 2022 Spring season. There were eight teams on the men's side with forty-four total participants and there were six teams on the women's side with thirty-seven participants. It was a two-day event where each team would get in three rounds of 18 hole golf.
The Eagles Men's Team finished in fourth overall, however, they were leading after the first day. A tough third round dropped them slightly but it was a good start to the season. The third round was rough for all teams as scores dropped overall. The totals for the two days was 898 - First Round 293, Second Round 295, Third Round 310.
Jack Haller led the way for the Eagles with a third-place finish out of the forty-four golfers. He was tied for the lead after the first round as he hit par. The separation from first to third was only two strokes so Haller was right in the mix to be the top finisher. Hunter Clay finished tied in eighth place as he hit one over par the first two rounds. Chanc Willis finished in twelfth place also hitting one over par twice.
For the Women's side, Katie Kauffman was the top Eagle finisher hitting an 84, 77, and 85 over the three rounds. Brooke Newsome and Lauren Welte were the next top finishers for Reinhardt. Look for the Women's Team to get their groove going as the season develops and they start moving up the ranks.
Both teams will be competing at the Point Invitational at Calloway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA on March 7th & 8th.
