Kentucky Road Trip Unfriendly to Eagles
Columbia, KY - Reinahrdt Men's Basketball played their second game of the season on the road in Kentucky, and it is one that the Eagles will want to quickly forget. The Eagles were facing the Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson at Biggers Sports Center on Tuesday, where they would run into a buzzsaw of offense. Reinhardt was finished early in this one, losing 76-47.
From the start, the Blue Raiders pulled out to an early lead and never looked back. The halftime score was 38 to 21 in favor of Lindsey Wilson, and the second half did not improve much after that. The Eagles struggled shooting the entire game with a field goal percentage of around 35% and 31% from the three-point line. Reinhardt was only able to get to the free-throw line nine times, where they only converted on two of those chances.
The Eagles did not have anyone reach double figures in scoring. Tee Williams and Jackson Sousa led the way, each scoring 9 points apiece. They did get a slight spark off the bench from scoring from Tucker Lowe, AJ Shaw, and Charles Reisman. Lowe had 6 points from two three-pointers, Shaw had 5 points, and Resiman had 5 points in limited minutes.
Turnovers were an issue that Reinhardt will have to fix before it moves into AAC play. They had 23 in Tuesday night's game and 14 from the night before against Campbellsville. However, the season has just started, and this team is just getting to know each other. It usually takes several games against real opponents before the team can start the gelling process and the players develop their roles on the team.
The Eagles will have another chance to start coming together as a team this weekend when they host the Canyons Classic on Saturday and Sunday at the Brown Athletic Center. Reinhardt will be hosting Ave Maria, Dalton State, and Johnson University for two days of excellent basketball. Saturday has the Royals of Johnson University facing off against the Roadrunners of Dalton State at 4 pm, followed by the Eagles playing the Gyrene's of Ave Maria at 6 pm. The teams will flip around on Sunday, with Johnson playing Ave Maria at 2 pm, and Reinhardt will face Dalton State at 4 pm to cap off the classic.
