Reinhardt Sweeps CIU to Claim 2025 AAC Regular Season Title
Waleska, GA - The weekend AAC series played out perfectly for Reinhardt Baseball, which started on Friday with a doubleheader against the CIU Rams. The Eagles won both of those behind the arms of Andrew Herbert in game one and Adam Christopher in game two. Tate Dearing finished the drill on Saturday with the final regular-season game for 2025, which ended in a dominant 10-0 win. The win secured the AAC title and earned them a spot in the NAIA postseason. All of that will play out in time, but next up will be a trip to the AAC Tournament in Kingsport, Tennessee, all of next week.
The Eagles' strategy to score early and maintain pressure paid off, with significant contributions from Nash Crowell and Dryden Howse, whose home runs were pivotal in this matchup. Nash Crowell was particularly outstanding, hitting two home runs, including a crucial two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning, which propelled the Eagles to establish a dominant ten-run lead straight to the finish. Crowell's homer scored Louis Dion, and it was his 15th home run of the season (team leader).
Dryden Howse complemented this show of strength with his own home run, leaving the Rams struggling to find a response. The offensive effort was well-rounded, with Robert Phelps, Louis Dion, and Barry Eiseman also contributing runs.
Pitching was equally formidable with Dearing starting on the mound for Reinhardt, helping to shut out CIU and securing a smooth path to victory. Dearing ended the game with six strikeouts, and he only gave up three hits in the shutout win. In the final inning, Ben Medley and Brent Turley, both seniors, finished out the inning for the Eagles. The bench rushed the field for a celebratory dogpile after Turley's final out.
