KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- On Wednesday at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament inside Meadowview Marriott, the No. 5-seeded Reinhardt College volleyball team won its first match and lost its second before having its 2009 season end in a one-set playoff. Reinhardt defeated the eighth-seeded Virginia Intermont College Lady Cobras 3-0 (27-25, 26-24, 25-18), fell to the No. 2-seeded Bryan College Lady Lions 3-2 (25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9) and then lost to the fourth-seeded Milligan College Lady Buffaloes 25-16 for the right to advance to Thursday's four-team, single-elimination bracket play.

WALESKA, Ga. -- Four members of the 2009 Reinhardt College volleyball team were honored with postseason awards from the Appalachian Athletic Conference on Wednesday morning. In a vote of the nine AAC head coaches, Reinhardt had one First Team All-AAC selection, one second team all-conference pick, one member on the all-freshman team and three players named to the all-academic team.

WALESKA, Ga. -- The schedule has been set for the 2009 Appalachian Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship tournament, with matches starting late Tuesday afternoon at Meadowview Marriott in Kingsport, Tenn. The nine-team event is using a three-pool format with the fifth-seeded Reinhardt College Lady Eagles opening play in Pool B against the No. 8-seeded Virginia Intermont College Lady Cobras on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. In its second match of the tournament, Reinhardt will take on the second-seeded Bryan College Lady Lions on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

WALESKA, Ga. -- In its final regular season match of 2009 on Friday night, the Reinhardt College volleyball team picked up a thrilling 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 14-25, 15-11) Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over the visiting Milligan College Lady Buffaloes at the James & Sis Brown Athletic Center. It was Reinhardt's third five-set match in the last four days with the Lady Eagles winning two of them, and Friday's triumph avenged a 3-0 AAC loss at Milligan on Oct. 12.
