WALESKA, Ga. -- Sean Stanfill, from Cumming, Ga., has signed a letter of intent to attend Reinhardt University in the fall and play golf for the Eagles in 2010-11 under head coach Ken Dixon, the 2010 Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. The 6-foot, 167-pound Stanfill comes to Reinhardt from South Forsyth High School, where he played for head coach Matt Loveless.
Stanfill, the son of Cheryl Stock and the grandson of Bob and Kathy Barner, earned four varsity letters at South Forsyth and was one of the top players for the War Eagles this past season. He also played basketball for two years. As a freshman golfer, Stanfill competed in the Class AAAAA state tournament with SFHS finishing in fourth place. He has also participated in several tournaments over the years through the Atlanta Junior Golf Association and the Georgia State Golf Association.
"This is a good opportunity for me and it's just another step in golf," Stanfill said of Reinhardt. "I'm very happy and excited to be here. It's a really nice campus and I feel comfortable here."
In 2010, the Eagles advanced to the NAIA National Championship tournament at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., after claiming the AAC title.
