WALESKA, Ga. - Jessie Furman, a 5-foot-7 attack from Marietta, Ga., has signed a letter of intent to attend Reinhardt University in the fall and play for the Lady Eagles' first-year women's lacrosse program in the spring of 2011 under head coach Alyson Whitley. Furman comes to Reinhardt from Walton High School in Marietta.
"Jessie grew up playing lacrosse, but then she lived overseas during high school and lacrosse wasn't offered there," Whitley said. "She will be running cross country for Reinhardt in the fall, in addition to playing lacrosse. Jessie has a natural talent for lacrosse and has great stick skills. Jessie seems very happy to be playing lacrosse again, and I am looking forward to coaching her."
Furman, the daughter of Chris and Dawn Furman, is a 2010 graduate of Walton after spending her sophomore year in Indonesia. She competed in cross country while overseas with most of her lacrosse playing experience coming through middle school.
"I'm attending Reinhardt because I like the teacher to student ratio and because it's a small college close to my home," Furman said. "I also decided to get back into lacrosse and be a part of the first-year program. After taking the campus tour, I really liked it and I was hoping I could come here."
Furman chose Reinhardt over attending Kennesaw State University or Georgia Southern University.
