WALESKA, Ga. -- Anna Solomon, a 5-foot-6 midfielder from Decatur, Ga., has signed a letter of intent to attend Reinhardt University in the fall and play for the Lady Eagles' first-year women's lacrosse program in the spring of 2011 under head coach Alyson Whitley. Solomon comes to Reinhardt from Decatur High School, where she played last season for her mother, head coach Pat Solomon.
"I recruited Anna during her senior season, and she really stuck out on the field and had a big presence," Whitley said. "She is going to be a great asset for our first women's lacrosse team. Not only is Anna a solid lacrosse player, but she has this natural aggressiveness about her that is a big positive no matter where she plays on the field. She is a go-getter on the field who makes things happen, and that is what we need this year. Anna is a great player and seems very coachable. I am excited for her to be a part of our first-year program."
Solomon, the daughter of Doug and Pat Solomon, earned four varsity letters each in both lacrosse and swimming at DHS. In lacrosse, she was twice named her team's Most Valuable Midfielder. This past season, Solomon helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to their first-ever state tournament appearance while serving as a team captain.
"I chose Reinhardt because it's not very far from my hometown, it has a very pretty campus, the classes are small so I'll be able to learn better, and I wanted to further my lacrosse career because I love the sport," Solomon said. "After meeting Coach Whitley, I decided that I'd love to play here. I'm excited to sign."
Solomon selected Reinhardt over lacrosse offers from NCAA Division II St. Andrews Presbyterian College, LaGrange College, Millsaps College and Agnes Scott College.
