WALESKA, Ga. -- Austin Ujhelyi, from Suwanee, Ga., has signed a letter of intent to attend Reinhardt University in the fall and play golf for the Eagles in 2010-11 under head coach Ken Dixon, the 2010 Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. The 5-foot-3, 115-pound Ujhelyi will come to Reinhardt from South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga., where he played for head coach Matt Loveless.
Ujhelyi, the son of Carl and Karen Ujhelyi, earned three varsity letters at South Forsyth and was one of the top players for the War Eagles this past season. As a senior, he posted a 75.3 stroke average. Ujhelyi also participated in soccer before focusing solely on golf at the age of 15. He has competed in several tournaments with U.S. Kids Golf, the Atlanta Junior Golf Association, the American Junior Golf Association, the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour, the All-American Junior Golf Tour, the Georgia PGA Golf Tour and the Florida Junior Tour.
"This is a good school to go to where I can get a good education," Ujhelyi said of Reinhardt. "The golf team is pretty good, so that made my decision right there."
In 2010, the Eagles advanced to the NAIA National Championship tournament at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., after claiming the AAC title.
