WALESKA, Ga. -- The Reinhardt College men's lacrosse squad concluded its inaugural 2010 season on Saturday afternoon with a 12-9 divisional loss to the visiting Georgia State University Panthers at Ken White Lacrosse Field.
Less than two minutes into the game, Reinhardt tied the score but Georgia State responded with two goals to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter. In the second period, the Eagles scored twice to tie the contest at 3-3. After the teams were tied (4-4) at halftime, the Panthers tallied the first three goals of the second half, taking a 7-4 advantage, before Reinhardt scored at the 10:30 mark, pulling within two. The hosts never got any closer as GSU led 11-8 after three periods.
For the Eagles, freshman Dustin Carnahan recorded two goals, an assist and nine ground balls while Channing Hoyt had two goals and an assist. Freshman Zack Muller picked up a pair of goals while Stefen Raymond-Hussey collected a goal, an assist and eight ground balls. Freshman Hunter Alexander and Donny Schreiman each contributed a goal while Alex Elarbee, another freshman, was credited with 18 saves.
Both squads are Division II members of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association and the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference, and compete in the SELC's Central Division. Reinhardt finishes its first year of intercollegiate competition at 0-8 overall and 0-5 within the division while Georgia State improves to 3-8 overall, including 2-3 in the SELC Central.
