ROME, Ga. -- The Reinhardt College women's golf program opened its 2010 spring season at the Berry College Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The 36-hole tournament was held at the par-72, 6011-yard Coosa Country Club with 18 holes being played each day.
Reinhardt had two players compete in the event, but four are needed to qualify for a team score. Fourteen squads took part with the Shorter College Lady Hawks, ranked 21st nationally in the NAIA, winning the tournament by shooting 318-316--634, 12 strokes better than the runner-up University of the Cumberlands Patriots, rated No. 19 in the country.
In the 84-player field, the Lady Eagles' Megan Lane finished tied for 39th place with 96-83--179. Freshman Candace Turcotte also played for Reinhardt in her first-ever collegiate event.
The Lady Eagles are at the Tennessee Wesleyan College Invitational at Springbrook Country Club in Athens, Tenn., on March 29-30.
