JACKSON, Miss. -- In a non-conference game on the road, the Reinhardt College baseball team fell 5-3 to the Belhaven University Blazers on Wednesday at Smith-Wills Stadium. Belhaven received 35 votes in the most recent NAIA poll to rank 34th nationally.

The Blazers led 2-0 after tallying a single run in each of the first two innings before Reinhardt tied the contest by scoring once in each of the third and fourth. Belhaven took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before the Eagles trimmed the final margin to two with a run in the eighth.

Reinhardt managed just two hits while the hosts ended with five. The Eagles were guilty of three errors and gave up four unearned runs while the Blazers made one error.

One of Reinhardt's hits was a solo home run from Jeremy Roberts while Jay Huffman went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Brett Flick added an RBI while Brent Martin reached base twice on walks.

Matt Dalton was the Eagles' starting pitcher but he lasted only one inning, allowing no hits and an unearned run with one strikeout and one walk. Josh Wilson, who took the loss, threw 5 1/3 innings, surrendering four hits and one earned run while striking out four and walking none. Drew Tyson pitched 2/3 of an inning, giving up no hits and no runs with a strikeout and a walk, while Ryan McDowell tossed the final inning, allowing one hit and no runs with one strikeout and no walks.
