WALESKA, Ga. -- Four members of the 2009-10 Reinhardt College women's basketball team were recently honored with postseason awards from the Appalachian Athletic Conference. In a vote of the nine conference head coaches, Reinhardt had one First Team All-AAC selection and four players named to the all-academic team.
Earning First Team All-AAC honors for the Lady Eagles was Kinsey Galyon, a 6-foot junior forward/center from Knoxville, Tenn. Galyon leads the squad in scoring (15.8 points per game), field goal percentage (48.3 percent, 188-of-389), field goals made and minutes (23.3 per game). Within the AAC, Galyon ranks third in field goal percentage, fourth in scoring, seventh in free throw percentage (74.3 percent) and 11th in rebounds (6.0 a contest). Earlier this season, she surpassed the prestigious 1,000-point plateau for her career.
Garnering spots on the AAC All-Academic Team were Galyon, 5-foot-9 senior guard Lindsay Taylor from Marietta, Ga., 5-foot-8 junior guard/forward Jaybriel Guyton out of Acworth, Ga., and 5-foot-6 freshman guard Hannah Mayo from Dalton, Ga. To be recognized as a member of the all-academic team, a player must: have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better, be at least a sophomore in academic status and have played in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competitions.
The Lady Eagles are currently 13-18 overall heading into the quarterfinal round of the AAC Tournament as the No. 8 seed. Reinhardt went 6-10 during regular season conference play, tying for seventh place.
