WALESKA, Ga. -- In its annual homecoming game on Saturday afternoon, the Reinhardt College women's basketball team lost an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest to the visiting Union College Lady Bulldogs by the score of 84-64 at the James & Sis Brown Athletic Center.
Reinhardt's final regular season home game also marked Senior Day, with seniors Lindsay Taylor and Fabiola Toussaint being honored before the tipoff.
An early 25-8 run gave Union a 15-point lead, and the Lady Bulldogs had a 41-29 advantage at halftime. The Lady Eagles got within nine points early in the second half before the guests took their biggest lead of the day, 74-50, with six minutes remaining.
Union shot 41.0 percent (25-of-61) from the field, including 10-of-34 (29.4 percent) from three-point territory, while Reinhardt made just 30.4 percent (24-of-79) and 0-of-13, respectively. From the foul line, the Lady Bulldogs were 24-of-32 (75.0 percent) and the Lady Eagles 16-of-25 (64.0 percent). Reinhardt outrebounded its guests 54-46.
Jemere McCurty paced the Lady Eagles with 13 points and a season-high nine rebounds while Monique Blanding registered 10 points, five boards and five assists. Off the bench, Kinsey Galyon scored eight points while Chase Morgan brought down seven rebounds.
Reinhardt drops to 12-18 overall and ended 6-10 in the AAC (tied for seventh place) while Union moves to 20-9 overall and finished 11-5 in conference play (tied for first). The Lady Eagles received the No. 8 seed for the AAC Tournament and host the No. 9-seeded Virginia Intermont College Lady Cobras on Monday in a first-round game at 7:30 p.m. The winner of Monday's contest advances to play at the top-seeded and AAC regular season co-champion Milligan College (Tenn.)
