MONTREAT, N.C. -- In an Appalachian Athletic Conference road game on Saturday afternoon, the Reinhardt College women's basketball team came up just short in a 57-56 loss to the Montreat College Lady Cavaliers at McAlister Gymnasium.
At halftime, the score was tied at 25-25. In the second half, Montreat outscored Reinhardt 32-31 to avenge a 72-66 loss to the Lady Eagles exactly one month ago in Waleska, Ga.
The Lady Cavaliers finished 5-of-11 (45.5 percent) from three-point range, compared to just 4-of-17 (23.5 percent) for Reinhardt. The Lady Eagles outrebounded the hosts by a 39-26 margin, but were guilty of 24 turnovers.
For Reinhardt, Kinsey Galyon had 17 points, four rebounds and three assists while Chase Morgan posted a double-double with 15 points and a career- and game-high 16 boards. Dallas Smith came up with seven points and five rebounds while Jordan Marsh added six boards off the bench.
The Lady Eagles are 10-14 overall and 4-6 in the AAC while Montreat improves to 16-8 overall, including 6-7 in conference play. Reinhardt hosts an AAC game on Monday against the Virginia Intermont College Lady Cobras at 5:30 p.m. Following the women's contest, the men's game between Virginia Intermont and Reinhardt takes place at 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader.
