BLUEFIELD, Va. -- On the road in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest, the Reinhardt College men's basketball team lost 83-69 to the Bluefield College Rams on Wednesday night inside Dome Gymnasium.
Reinhardt, which received one vote in this week's NAIA Division II poll to rank tied for 36th nationally, trailed 36-30 at halftime. In the second half, Bluefield increased its lead after making 14-of-16 free throws (87.5 percent), compared to just 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) for the Eagles.
From the foul line, the Rams ended 18-of-23 (78.3 percent) while Reinhardt was 12-of-21 (57.1 percent). The hosts committed only nine turnovers and Reinhardt 11. Bluefield had a 45-28 advantage in rebounds.
Kordel Alexander tallied 17 points and five rebounds for the Eagles while Quinton Spivey produced 13 points and five boards. Will Lewis tossed in 12 points while Joseph Odugbela chipped in with nine points and six rebounds off the bench.
Reinhardt dips to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in the conference while the Rams are 11-12 overall, including 7-5 in AAC play. The Eagles travel to take on the Montreat College Lady Cavaliers in an AAC contest this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Montreat, N.C. Prior to the men's game, the Reinhardt and Montreat women's squads square off at 5:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader.
