BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Away from home on Wednesday, the Reinhardt College women's basketball team dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference game to the Bluefield College Lady Rams by the score of 65-55 at Dome Gymnasium.
Reinhardt outscored Bluefield 38-32 in the second half after falling behind 33-17 at halftime. In the first half, the Lady Eagles shot just 21.4 percent (6-of-28) from the field, including 0-of-7 from three-point range, and 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from the free throw line.
The Lady Rams, who received four votes in this week's NAIA Division II poll to rank 38th nationally, finished at 45.8 percent (22-of-48) from the floor while their guests shot 35.8 percent (19-of-53). From three-point range, Bluefield was 8-of-18 (44.4 percent), compared to 2-of-11 (18.2 percent) for Reinhardt. The Lady Eagles had 16 turnovers and 13 steals while the hosts ended with 24 and seven, respectively. Reinhardt was outrebounded 37-23.
Kinsey Galyon came off the bench to score 12 points for the Lady Eagles while Jemere McCurty collected nine in a reserve role. Chase Morgan added eight points while Lindsay Taylor recorded a season- and game-high four steals.
Reinhardt falls to 10-13 overall and 4-5 in the AAC while the Lady Rams move to 16-6 overall, including 8-4 in conference play. The Lady Eagles are on the road for another AAC contest this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. against the Montreat College Lady Cavaliers in Montreat, N.C. Following the women's game, the Reinhardt and Montreat men face each other at 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader.
