MURPHY, N.C. -- Kareen Abling, a 5-foot-7 guard from Murphy, N.C., has signed a letter of intent to attend Reinhardt College in the fall and play basketball for the Lady Eagles during the 2010-11 season under head coach Amanda Clonts. Abling will come to Reinhardt from Hiwassee Dam High School in Murphy, the same school Clonts attended, where she played for head coach Chris Reynolds.

Abling, the daughter of Trent and Bridgette Abling, is currently in her fourth year as a member of varsity team at Hiwassee Dam. During her career, she eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau as a junior in January 2009 and has also grabbed more than 500 rebounds. This season, Abling is averaging 17.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.9 steals per game for the Lady Eagles. As a junior, she tallied 11.5 points, 4.0 boards, 2.5 steals and 1.8 assists a contest while being named to the All-Smoky Mountain Conference team.
