DAYTON, Tenn. -- In its Appalachian Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday, the Reinhardt College women's basketball team lost 68-53 on the road to the Bryan College Lady Lions at Summers Athletic Complex.
Reinhardt trailed 35-25 at halftime and could not recover in the second half.
Both teams finished with 18 made field goals, but Bryan attempted 42 shots for 42.9 percent while the Lady Eagles took 61 for just 29.5 percent. The Lady Lions were 6-of-12 (50.0 percent) from three-point range and 26-of-36 (72.2 percent) from the free throw line, compared to 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) and 13-of-24 (54.2 percent), respectively, for Reinhardt. Bryan was guilty of 24 turnovers with Reinhardt committing only 12, but the Lady Lions outrebounded their guests 48-28.
For the Lady Eagles, freshman Brooke Satterfield had 11 points while Chase Morgan collected nine points, nine rebounds and a game-high three blocked shots off the bench. Monique Blanding contributed a game-best four steals in a reserve role.
Reinhardt falls to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the AAC while Bryan improves to 7-2 overall, including 1-0 in conference play. The Lady Eagles travel to play the Southern Polytechnic State University Lady Hornets next Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Marietta, Ga. Following the women's game, the Reinhardt and Southern Poly men will square off at 8 p.m. as part of a non-conference doubleheader.
