WALESKA, Ga. -- Courtney Garrett, from Bowdon, Ga., has signed an athletic grant-in-aid to attend Reinhardt College and play tennis for the Lady Eagles in spring 2010 under head coach Jennifer Sackman. Garrett will come to Reinhardt in January as a transfer from NCAA Division II University of West Georgia, which does not offer a women's intercollegiate tennis program. She is a graduate of Bowdon High School, where she played for head coach Sheila Reed.
"I'm looking forward to Courtney coming in and playing in one of the top three positions on the team," Sackman said. "I believe she will make a big impact on how we finish our 2010 season."
Garrett, the daughter of Debbie Garrett, is currently in her second year at West Georgia but will have four seasons of eligibility remaining when joining the Lady Eagles. In high school, Garrett was Bowdon's No. 1 singles player for four years, helping to lead the Red Devils to the state playoffs as a junior and senior. She was also an honor student and member of the band at Bowdon.
"I feel there are more opportunities for me here at Reinhardt," Garrett said. "I love Reinhardt."
