WALESKA, Ga. -- Several members of the 2009 Reinhardt College men's soccer team were honored with postseason awards from the Appalachian Athletic Conference on Thursday night. In a vote of the eight AAC head coaches, Reinhardt had one First Team All-AAC selection, one second team all-conference pick, one third team All-AAC performer and a conference-leading seven players named to the all-academic team.  

Earning First Team All-AAC honors for the Eagles was Spencer Davidson, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound senior forward from Atlanta, Ga. Despite missing two matches, Davidson led the team in goals (10), assists (six), points (26), shots (66), shots on goal (32) and game-winning goals (four). Within the conference, Davidson leads in game-winning goals per game (0.29) and is tied for first in game-winning goals, second in shots per game (4.71), third in goals per game (0.71), third in shots on goal per game (2.29), fourth in points per game (1.86), fourth in assists per game (0.43), fifth in points, sixth in goals and tied for sixth in assists.

Stephen Semasky, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound midfielder out of Hiram, Ga., was the lone Reinhardt player to receive Second Team All-AAC accolades. Semasky was a four-year starter and one of the team's top defensive players.

The Eagles' third team all-conference honoree was 6-foot-2, 185-pound Philip Overby, a junior midfielder originally from Oslo, Norway who graduated from high school in Woodstock, Ga. Overby started all 16 matches, tallying three goals and four assists for 10 points. He finished second on the squad in both shots (32) and shots on goal (18) and had one game-winning goal.

Garnering spots on the AAC All-Academic Team were Semasky, Overby, 6-foot-2, 185-pound sophomore midfielder Kyle Barry (from Carrollton, Ga.), 5-foot-10, 160-pound sophomore midfielder Denny Jones (from Griffin, Ga.), 6-foot, 150-pound sophomore midfielder Brad McMillan (from Peachtree City, Ga.), 5-foot-7, 145-pound senior midfielder Carlos Mejia (from Santa Lucia, Guatemala who graduated from high school in Marietta, Ga.) and 6-foot-3, 165-pound sophomore goalkeeper Zack Schultze (from Newnan, Ga.). To be recognized as a member of the all-academic team, a player must: have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better, be at least a sophomore in academic status and have played in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competitions.

Reinhardt ended its 2009 season at 6-9-1 overall and tied for fourth place in the conference with a 4-2-1 record. The Eagles were eliminated in the opening round of the AAC Tournament by a 2-1 score.
