WALESKA, Ga. -- Several members of the 2009 Reinhardt College women's soccer team were honored with postseason awards from the Appalachian Athletic Conference on Thursday night. In a vote of the eight AAC head coaches, Reinhardt had two First Team All-AAC selections, one second team all-conference pick and six players named to the all-academic team.  

Earning First Team All-AAC honors for the Lady Eagles were Lindsay Taylor, a 5-foot-9 senior forward from Marietta, Ga., and Katelyn Prester, a 5-foot-10 junior forward out of Kennesaw, Ga. Taylor led the squad in goals (14), points (30), shots (69) and shots on goal (38) and within the AAC she ranks third in goals, third in goals per game (0.82), tied for third in game-winning goals (three), tied for third in game-winning goals per game (0.18), tied for third in shots per game (4.06), fourth in points, fourth in points per game (1.76) and fourth in shots on goal per game (2.24). Prester had a team-leading six assists and is tied for second in the conference in that category, along with ranking third in assists per game (0.35), tied for third in game-winning goals (three), tied for third in game-winning goals per game (0.18), fifth in points per game (1.41), sixth in points (24), sixth in goals (nine), sixth in goals per game (0.53), seventh in shots per game (3.00) and seventh in shots on goal per game (1.76).

Kelsey Carl, a 5-foot-6 sophomore defender from Canton, Ga., was the lone Reinhardt player to receive Second Team All-AAC accolades. Carl spearheaded the team's defense that allowed just 1.82 goals per match.

Garnering spots on the AAC All-Academic Team were Taylor, Carl, 5-foot-2 sophomore forward Katherine Amatulli (from Roswell, Ga.), 5-foot-6 junior defender Heather Hundelt (from Woodstock, Ga.), 5-foot-5 sophomore defender Diane Prescott (from Woodstock, Ga.) and 5-foot sophomore defender Elizabeth Waite (from Cumming, Ga.). To be recognized as a member of the all-academic team, a player must: have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better, be at least a sophomore in academic status and have played in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competitions.

The Lady Eagles ended their 2009 season at 6-9-2 overall and in sixth place in the conference with a 2-4-1 record before being eliminated in the opening round of the AAC Tournament on a shootout.
