CLEVELAND, Ga. -- Away from home on Thursday evening, the Reinhardt College women's basketball team routed the Truett-McConnell College Lady Bears 86-59 in a non-conference contest.
Reinhardt put together a 51-point first half and led by 19 at the intermission. The Lady Eagles increased their advantage in the second half as all 15 players in uniform played at least five minutes with 13 of them scoring in the game.
Reinhardt, a first-year NAIA Division II member, shot 42.1 percent (32-of-76) from the field on the night, including a sizzling 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from three-point range, while Truett-McConnell made just 2-of-7 (28.6 percent) from behind the three-point line. The Lady Eagles outrebounded the NAIA Division I Lady Bears 49-33, and forced them into 25 turnovers.
For the winners, Chase Morgan had 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals off the bench while Dallas Smith also scored 15 points and made two steals. Kinsey Galyon tallied 13 points and seven rebounds in a reserve role while Jemere McCurty came off the bench with 10 points.
Reinhardt improves to 2-2 overall while TMC drops to 0-5. The Lady Eagles will travel to the Tennessee Temple University Lady Crusaders on Saturday for another non-conference contest. The game is slated for 2 p.m. in Chattanooga, Tenn.
