WALESKA, Ga. -- Four members of the 2009 Reinhardt College volleyball team were honored with postseason awards from the Appalachian Athletic Conference on Wednesday morning. In a vote of the nine AAC head coaches, Reinhardt had one First Team All-AAC selection, one second team all-conference pick, one member on the all-freshman team and three players named to the all-academic team.

Earning First Team All-AAC honors for the Lady Eagles was Sami Lane, a 5-foot-10 sophomore outside hitter from Kennesaw, Ga. A Second Team All-Southern States Athletic Conference performer last year, Lane ranks second on the squad in the following statistical categories: kills (245), kills per set (2.69), service aces (23), digs (324), digs per set (3.56), points (275) and points per set (3.02). Within the conference, she is fourth in kills per set and eighth in digs per set.

Tori O'Brien, a 5-foot-10 freshman outside hitter out of Woodstock, Ga., was the lone Reinhardt player to receive Second Team All-AAC accolades and a place on the AAC All-Freshman Team. O'Brien leads the squad in kills (275), kills per set (2.93), service aces (47), service aces per set (0.50), points (329) and points per set (3.50). Among the conference leaders, she ranks second in kills per set, second in service aces per set, fourth in service aces and 10th in kills.

Garnering spots on the AAC All-Academic Team were Lane, 5-foot junior setter Courtney Byrd (from Riverdale, Ga.) and 5-foot-9 junior setter Isabela Costa (from Sao Paulo, Brazil). To be recognized as a member of the all-academic team, a player must: have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or better, be at least a sophomore in academic status and have played in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competitions.

The Lady Eagles ended the regular season at 11-18 overall, tying for fourth place in the AAC with a 9-7 record. Reinhardt, the No. 5 seed, will begin play in the AAC Tournament in Kingsport, Tenn., later today.
