BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- In an Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday afternoon, the No. 5-seeded Reinhardt College men's soccer squad concluded its 2009 campaign with a 2-1 road loss to the fourth-seeded Montreat College Cavaliers on Montreat's Black Mountain campus.
Reinhardt began the scoring 20:33 into the match when Spencer Davidson knocked in a goal off an assist from freshman Jack Coulton. The Cavaliers tied the contest at 1-1 by halftime with a score at the 34:17 mark before tallying the game-winning goal at 68:37.
The Eagles were outshot 16-10 but just 7-6 on goal. The hosts were awarded nine corner kicks, compared to two for Reinhardt.
In goal for the Eagles, Zack Schultze played the full 90 minutes, registering five saves.
Reinhardt ends the 2009 season at 6-9-1 overall while Montreat evens its record at 8-8-1. The Cavaliers advance to the AAC Tournament semifinals where they will be on the road to face the top-seeded Milligan College Buffaloes next Friday.
