WALESKA, Ga. -- In its final regular season match of 2009 on Friday night, the Reinhardt College volleyball team picked up a thrilling 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 14-25, 15-11) Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over the visiting Milligan College Lady Buffaloes at the James & Sis Brown Athletic Center. It was Reinhardt's third five-set match in the last four days with the Lady Eagles winning two of them, and Friday's triumph avenged a 3-0 AAC loss at Milligan on Oct. 12.
Reinhardt finished with a .151 attack percentage (51 kills, 24 errors in 179 attempts) while the Lady Buffaloes ended at .193 (62 kills, 27 errors in 181 attacks). The Lady Eagles had just three service errors, compared to nine for their guests. Reinhardt recorded 13 total team blocks to Milligan's four.
Three of the Lady Eagles posted double-doubles, including Sami Lane (match-high 16 kills, 17 digs), freshman Tori O'Brien (12 kills, 11 digs, five block assists) and Isabela Costa (23 assists, 11 digs). Freshman Monica Kafka was credited with a match-best 27 digs while freshman SaVanna Strickland collected five block assists and two solo blocks. Courtney Byrd added 21 assists.
Reinhardt improves to 11-18 overall and finishes 9-7 in the AAC while the Lady Buffs fall to 15-16 overall, including 9-6 in conference play. The Lady Eagles will take part in the AAC Championship tournament beginning next Tuesday in Kingsport, Tenn.
