ROME, Ga. -- The Reinhardt College women's basketball team opened its 2009-10 season on Friday night with a 52-41 loss to the host Lady Hawks in the Shorter College Tip-Off Classic inside the Winthrop-King Centre.  

Reinhardt made just 4-of-30 (13.3 percent) of its field goal attempts in the first half and trailed 28-15 at halftime. The Lady Eagles outscored Shorter by two points in the final 20 minutes.

Reinhardt finished at 20.0 percent (14-of-70) from the field, compared to 35.7 percent (15-of-42) for the Lady Hawks. The Lady Eagles forced the hosts into 29 turnovers and collected 16 steals.

Kinsey Galyon ended with nine points and six rebounds off the bench for Reinhardt while Jaybriel Guyton contributed nine points, a game-high three assists and three steals. Dallas Smith had seven points and six boards while freshman Sarah Hewett came up with a game-best four steals.

The Lady Eagles will participate in the Shorter College Tip-Off Classic on Saturday by playing a neutral non-conference game against the Concordia College Lady Hornets (from Selma, Ala.) at 2 p.m.
