ROME, Ga. -- In the 2009-10 season opener for both teams on Friday afternoon, the Reinhardt College men's basketball team routed the Concordia College Hornets (from Selma, Ala.) 112-74 in a non-conference game that was played as part of the Shorter College Tip-Off Classic at the Winthrop-King Centre.
Reinhardt got out to a 51-34 halftime lead and expanded its advantage with a 61-point second half in coasting to the victory.
The Eagles shot 56.3 percent (40-of-71) from the field in the contest, including 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from three-point territory. Reinhardt outrebounded Concordia 53-35.
Kordel Alexander led the winners with game highs of 31 points, knocking down 9-of-11 shots from three-point range, and three steals while Quinton Spivey came off the bench to score 15 points. Wes Jones had 12 points while Torrio Cook tossed in 11 as a reserve. Joseph Odugbela contributed 10 points and pulled down a game-best 17 rebounds while Derrick Delagrana added a game-high seven assists.
The Eagles will continue play in the Shorter College Tip-Off Classic on Saturday by taking on the host Hawks in a non-conference contest at 8 p.m.
