BRISTOL, Va. -- In an Appalachian Athletic Conference road match on Tuesday evening, the Reinhardt College volleyball team recorded a hard-fought 3-2 (25-19, 24-26, 21-25, 25-21, 15-11) win over the Virginia Intermont College Lady Cobras at the St. Anne Family Life Center.
Reinhardt finished with a .222 attack percentage, slightly better than Virginia Intermont's .189. The Lady Eagles had 10 total team blocks to the Lady Cobras' one. Reinhardt collected seven service aces and took advantage of 16 service errors by VIC.
Freshman Tori O'Brien ended with 12 kills and 14 digs for the winners while freshman Sarah Richards registered eight kills. Sami Lane contributed seven kills and 10 digs while freshman Monica Kafka chipped in with 15 digs. Freshmen Joy Ogide and Candace Turcotte were credited with four solo blocks apiece while Courtney Byrd and Isabela Costa added 19 and 17 assists, respectively.
The Lady Eagles improve to 10-17 overall and 8-7 in the AAC while Virginia Intermont falls to 7-26 overall, including 3-13 in conference play. Reinhardt will host a non-conference match with the Brenau University Golden Tigers on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
