WALESKA, Ga. -- On Senior Day, the Reinhardt College women's soccer team concluded its 2009 regular season with a 1-1 tie after two overtimes in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match against the Covenant College Scots on Tuesday afternoon at the Jim & Syble Boring Sports Complex.
Prior to the game, Reinhardt's lone senior, Lindsay Taylor, was honored as part of Senior Day.
The Lady Eagles opened the scoring 34:33 into the contest when Katelyn Prester came off the bench and knocked home a goal with an assist from Taylor. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Covenant tied the match at the 56:23 mark, sending it into extra time. Following two 10-minute overtime periods, the score remained tied at 1-1.
Reinhardt was outshot 15-12, including 9-3 on goal and 7-1 in the overtime sessions. The Lady Eagles came up with eight saves and the Lady Scots two.
In goal for Reinhardt, Chesley Torrance started and played the first half, allowing no goals with two saves. Chelsea Bettis played the final 65 minutes, recording six saves, including three in the overtime periods.
The Lady Eagles are 6-9-1 overall and finished 2-4-1 in the AAC while Covenant is 6-7-3 overall and ended 3-1-3 in conference play. Reinhardt will begin play in the AAC Tournament on Saturday.
