BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- The Reinhardt College men's soccer team concluded its 2009 regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 1-1 double-overtime tie with the Union College Bulldogs on the road at Burch/Nau Field, which has an artificial playing surface.
After a scoreless first half, Union got on the scoreboard in the 74th minute, taking a 1-0 lead. In the 80th minute, Reinhardt tied the match when Spencer Davidson found the net on a penalty kick. Neither team was able to score again through two 10-minute overtime periods.
The Eagles finished with a slim 15-14 edge in shots, including 9-5 on goal. Reinhardt also had a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks with four of them coming in the overtime sessions.
Zack Schultze played the entire 110 minutes in goal for the Eagles. He was credited with four saves.
Reinhardt concludes the regular season at 6-8-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the AAC while the Bulldogs are 9-4-2 overall and ended 4-1-2 in conference play. The Eagles will take part in an AAC Tournament first-round game next Saturday.
