MARIETTA, Ga. -- Runners from the Reinhardt College men's and women's cross country teams took part in the 5th Annual Southern Collegiate Challenge on Saturday morning. Chattahoochee Technical College hosted the meet at Wildwood Park.
Reinhardt had two women and three men compete in the event with five runners per squad needed to qualify for a team score. NCAA Division II Georgia College & State University won the eight-team women's competition with a score of 20 while Division II Clayton State University topped the six men's squads with a score of 18.
For the Lady Eagles, Melissa Blumer led the way with a 5K time of 26:32.5 for 52nd place among 67 runners while Jessica Regain finished at 26:42.1 for 54th.
In the men's 8K race, Chris Higgins paced Reinhardt with a time of 33:18.7 for 25th place in a 55-runner field. Cody Fulkerson ran a 34:27.2 for 31st place while Channing Hoyt ended at 34:30.5 for 32nd.
Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles will run at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Montreat College in Black Mountain, N.C., on Saturday, Nov. 7.
