SEWANEE, Tenn. -- On Saturday, members of the Reinhardt College men's and women's cross country teams began their 2009 seasons by participating in a strong field of runners at the 29th Annual Sewanee Invitational, hosted by the University of the South.
Kristie Spivey was one of three Reinhardt competitors in the women's 5K race, finishing with a time of 24:13.71 for 88th place among 110 participants. There were 11 women's teams, including four NCAA Division I members, with Mississippi State University winning the championship with a score of 25.
The Reinhardt men had four runners take part in the men's 8K competition. For the Eagles, Cody Fulkerson led the way with a time of 31:34.09 for 99th place in a field of 123. Mississippi State also won the men's race with a score of 24 among 11 squads, including three NCAA Division I schools.
Both Reinhardt squads will be at the Berry Invitational, hosted by Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga., next Saturday, Sept. 12.
